Barents Forum Audience
13.12.2016 - 14:19
One of the key events of the Kainuu Chairmanship of the Barents Regional Council and Committee 2015-2017 took place in Helsinki on 8th December. The Barents Forum included presentations, work shops, project clinics and bilateral meetings. Hopefully, the forum will create new, fruitful partnerships and project ideas and will serve as a kick-start for similar events in the future.

Barents cooperation between Finland, Sweden, Norway and Northwest Russia is organized on two levels. The Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC) operates at government level and the Regional Council operates at regional level. Cooperation is done on many forms, the overall objective being sustainable development of the region.  Barents cooperation brings a regional and practical point of view to the broader arctic cooperation and at the same time, a broader point of view to regional development activities.
